Product Overview
Zeroflame Fire Retardant Treatment 20L is a water-based, clear solution that penetrates timber, preserving its natural appearance while providing fire protection. It achieves Euroclass B s2 d0 (replacing UK Classes ?0' and ?1' BS 476 Part 6/7*) on solid wood 12mm or thicker. Suitable for both internal and external use, it remains effective for the lifetime of the substrate. Application is simple via brush, roller, spray, or immersion, with no need for overcoating unless a decorative finish is desired using waterborne, non-flammable varnishes, stains, or paints.
Key Features Benefits
- 20L will treat 80m2
- Protects timber to Euroclass B (replaces BS Class 0/1*).
- Leaves no visible finish for a natural look.
- Moisture-resistant and unaffected by humidity.
- Non-hazardous, non-corrosive, and virtually odour-free.
- Tested to EN 927-6 & EN 16755 for accelerated weathering (EXT1 rated).

Suitable Applications

Internal: Timber ceilings, wall panelling, staircases, floors, tongue & groove, etc.
Application Instructions
- Ensure the surface is bare, absorbent timber, free from previous coatings, paints, or varnishes. Sand back to the original surface if necessary. Apply using a brush, roller, spray, or immersion, ensuring complete coverage. The required amount is 250ml per square metre, and multiple coats may be needed depending on timber absorption.
- Stir well before use. Do not dilute.
- Ambient temperature should be above 10?C, and wood moisture content below 15%.
- Test on a small area first to check for absorption and any colour change.
- Clean tools with water and absorbent paper.
Drying Overcoating
- Drying time: 6-12 hours at 20?C / 65% humidity.
- Protect externally treated surfaces from weather for 48 hours post-application.
- If overcoating, use waterborne, non-flammable varnishes, stains, or paints.
- Ensure the timber is fully dry before applying a decorative finish.
Important Considerations
- Discolouration may occur on some timbers, especially knotted wood.
- Not suitable for veneers, plywood laminates, or particle boards.
- Always check with authorities if compliance with BS 476 Parts 6 & 7, Class 1/0 is required before use.
Zeroflame Fire Retardant Treatment is a simple, effective, and long-lasting fire protection solution for commercial and domestic timber applications, ensuring safety without altering the wood's natural appearance.
