What is PassivHaus?
A PassivHaus is an exceptionally energy-efficient building designed to use minimal energy for heating and cooling, thereby maintaining a nearly constant indoor temperature.

What are the requirements?
In the UK, the requirements for a Passive House (Passivhaus) are defined by the Passivhaus Institute. These standards ensure that buildings achieve ultra-low energy usage while maintaining high levels of comfort:
Heating & cooling demand
The annual heating and cooling demand must not exceed 15 kWh per square meter of treated floor area (TFA) per year.
Primary energy demand
The total primary energy demand must be less than 120 kWh per square meter of TFA per year.
Airtightness
Airtightness level of no more than 0.6 air changes per hour (ACH) at a pressure differential of 50 Pascals.
Thermal comfort
Indoor temperatures should not exceed 25°C for more than 10% of the year.
Thermal bridge-free design
The building design should minimize thermal bridges to prevent heat loss.

What are the benefits of PassivHaus design?
Enhanced Indoor Air Quality: A sophisticated ventilation system with heat recovery ensures a constant supply of fresh air while filtering out pollutants, resulting in cleaner and healthier indoor air.
Reduced Carbon Emissions: By minimizing energy consumption for heating and cooling, PassivHaus buildings significantly lower carbon footprints, contributing to environmental sustainability.
Consistent Thermal Comfort: With superior insulation and airtight construction, PassivHaus homes maintain uniform warmth without draughts or cold spots in winter and remain comfortably cool in summer.
Low Maintenance Costs: The durable and high-quality materials used in PassivHaus construction result in lower ongoing maintenance costs, enhancing long-term value.
Increased Living Space: The absence of conventional heating systems such as radiators provides more flexible and usable wall space, allowing for more creative interior designs.
Distinctive and Luxurious Design: PassivHaus buildings are renowned for their modern, sleek aesthetics and standout architectural features, offering a unique and luxurious living experience.
