MKM is proud to have raised a staggering £24,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

MKM launched a ‘Silent Auction’ to celebrate our recent milestone of opening our 100th branch.

100 amazing prizes were up for grabs, donated by MKM and a number of suppliers, giving people the chance to view and then silently bid for each item.

An array of fantastic prizes were on offer, including tickets to some of the top sporting events in the country, from Premiership football games, England Rugby internationals and county cricket matches.

There were also a host of two and four-ball prizes available at some of the UK’s best golf courses.  In addition, luxury hotel stays, exclusive hampers, high street vouchers and a host of technology prizes, like tablets and smart speakers, were available!

Rachel Constable, Head of ESG at MKM, said: “We are absoluty delighted to have raised vital funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.  I’d like to thank everyone that took part in the auction, whether it was through donating prizes or bidding.  Macmillan is a charity close to the hearts of our people, with one in two of the UK population expected to get cancer in their lifetime.  We are extremely proud that we’ve been able to raise such a fantastic amount of money.”

Erin Fairley, Macmillan Cancer Support’s Relationship Fundraising Manager – North East, commented: “We are over the moon with the incredible amount raised thanks to a tremendous collective effort from staff at MKM. The company’s drive to raise funds through a wonderful silent auction is humbling and £24,000 is an amazing amount which could fund a Macmillan nurse for almost five months. This will go such a long way in helping Macmillan do whatever it takes for people living with cancer, especially during what are difficult times considering the cost of living crisis. It’s thanks to the efforts of our incredible supporters we can continue to be there for people living with and affected by cancer.”

In addition to the ‘Silent Auction’, MKM has also launched its ‘100 Good Deeds’ campaign to celebrate our 100th branch, which officially opened its doors in Bromsgrove this September.

“Our independent branch network already supports hundreds of great causes across the UK - local causes that are important to our people and the communities where we operate,” continued Rachel.

“Our ‘100 Good Deeds’ campaign builds on this even further.  Each of our 100 branches have committed to carrying out a good deed locally, supporting some amazing charities or projects that are making a real difference to the areas where our staff and customers work and live.”
