MKM Chichester kicked-off their new branch opening in style by announcing their support of Bognor Town FC as its naming rights sponsor that will see the club’s Nyewood Lane ground renamed as the MKM Arena.

The deal, part of MKM’s commitment to supporting the local community, has also seen the company pledge its support with an initial donation of £1000 to St Wilfred’s Hospice – an independent charity which has been caring for people in the local area for over 35 years.

And to make it a hat-trick, MKM Chichester was joined by Criag Gershater - the Mayor of Chichester and Chairman of Chichester City Council, alongside Gemma Carden from St Wilfred’s Hospice – to mark the officially opening of the new branch.

Conveniently located on the Cathedral Business Park, MKM Chichester has created 21 new jobs.  The branch provides an extensive range of building materials, plumbing and heating, timber, landscaping, joinery and more. In addition, it also boasts a stunning kitchen and bathroom showroom, where customers can have their kitchens and bathrooms designed for free, alongside an amazing outdoor landscaping display.

Heading up the branch are Branch Directors – Peter Bird and Richard Hellen.  Both Peter and Richard are locals and bring a staggering seven decades of combined experience to their new roles.

Councillor Craig Gershater, Mayor of Chichester, said “I was delighted to attend the official opening of MKM Chichester – it’s brilliant to see a business like this opening in the area, offering a boost to the local community. I’m so pleased to see a previously disused area put to such good use, while simultaneously bringing job opportunities to the town! As part of my work as the Chairman of the City Council, the council are developing a new business plan for Chichester over the next four years; we are especially keen to pick up on ideas that could help to support local business and local charities within the community, so we will be watching MKM Chichester with interest.”

MKM Chichester chose St. Wilfrid’s Hospice as its charity partner because of the fantastic work the charity does in the local area.  St Wilfred’s offer a wide range of services, providing physical, emotional, social, psychological and spiritual support, working closely with all health and social care professionals involved in an individual’s care, including GP’s and community nurses.

Branch Director, Richard Hellen, said: “We’re so pleased to be able to support St. Wilfrid’s Hospice, who provide such a critical service to those in need in the local community. Some of our branch staff have dealt with them previously, so to be able to support them as our charity partner and give something back to their fantastic team is something we are all fully onboard with. As well as the initial donation, we are in the process of organising sponsored runs, and some of the team are even planning to take part in a sponsored Tough Mudder event!”
